There's a new typhoon named "Ondoy". Obviously I can't go out of the house today so I decided to update my Blogger account. This past weeks, I was busy getting 3 certificates required by my shipping agency. First I applied for a Certificate of Competency (COC), General Tanker Familiarization (GTF), and lastly Ship Security Awareness (SSA).
The hand's on examination for COC was a bit hard because only few knot tying techniques was taught to us in PMMS. The trainors let us practice before the exam, and with the help of my mates with shipboard experiences, I learned some shortcuts. Unluckily, I failed to do all the knots during the test.. Good thing that the trainor didnt notice my absence in the group for repetition and I got my claim stub from the cashier together with the early passers (BAD). Next time I'll practice.

For GTF, I enrolled in Maritime Technological and Allied Service, Inc also know as MARITAS. I stayed at Joy's Bording house at Sampaloc Manila so I won't be late in my 8:00 AM class from Monday to Friday September 14 to 19 2009. MARITAS is located at Sta. Cruz Manila near Quiapo Church and Ongpin. I enjoyed my GTF class with Mr. Mongaya. He's a great teacher. He explained each and every part of the book as clear as it should be, and tells us stories about his work on board during the days and related to the lesson. I topped most of the exams and ended up highest in the over all average (95.9%). C/E Mongaya is one of the best instructors and seafarers. I learned so much from him.
It was thursday, before finishing GTF, I enrolled for another training, Ship Security Awareness (SSA). Joy told me that I can't stay at her bording house on Monday night because some of their relatives will go there to spend the night, and my training is scheduled on the next day. And so, the night before my training, I set my alarm clock as early as 3:00AM here in Cavite. Being so afraid for the traffic build-up on the express way, it's still dark when I left the house,.I arrived 2 any half hours before my class=). I decided to have my breakfast at Chowking near Ongpin and waited there untill 7:00am. I was the one who first entered the classroom at 7:30. and waited for Edward John, one of my co-trainee in my last GTF class. He arrived when the class was about to start. We expected for a teacher with a good sense of humor like C/E Mongaya. But, I hated the SSA trainor who was assigned to teach us that morning. I didnt even care to remember his name, neither his face.. He's the complete opposite version of Mr. Mongaya. I dont understand a single word he's saying. Good thing there's a printed copy of the lesson for reading. The 1 whole day training was boring. But it's ok. I got my 2nd certificate though.
Edward and I went to Mall of Asia in Pasay after the class to meet his textmate Donna, who happens to be my friend in Metropolis Alabang and cousin of my Ex-Girlfriend Mary Jane. I gave him Donna's number while were having the training for GTF because he's looking for textmates. They met and they seem comfortable with each other. Donna was not alone that day. She was with her friend in the company where they applied for work, I do not remember her name, but who cares? she's nice and cute but "Married" =).
After few hours Donna's friend and I decided to leave the two alone and go home early because her husband might look for her and Mall of Asia is very far from where I came from. I bought some flourescent Lollipops (picture below) .
We left them near the bay at the back of the Mall (very romantic place). Te and I both took the Jeep for Alabang. I payed the fare for her because he's money is a 500 peso bill, which most drivers refuse to accept because most of them don't have a change for such amount. We arrived at Alabang late because we stucked on the road for 1hour because of the heavy traffic. She walked to their house but I havd to take another jeep ride from Alabang to Carmona Cavite. I arrived here and checked my accounts especially Mafia Wars and Farmville. I cleaned up and rested. SRC I.D and NAC you're next!!!
