EVERYONE KNOWS LINKIN PARK. OH YEAH!!! IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD OF THEM MAYBE YOU WASTED YOUR DAYS LISTENING TO SOME BOYBANDS. NO OFFENSE=)
O.k, I didn't really like rock music at first.... In my elementary years, before I even touched a guitar, I listened to some famous songs by artists I don't even know. Mainstreams I guess. (Oh yeah! I use to like the Moffats in Grade 4 yaikz!!!)
Then, when I stepped in the 5th Grade, one of my classmates gave me the idea of guitar playing. It helped me a lot because I started appreciating other genres different from OPM songs. 2 years later, in highschool, first year to be exact. A close friend of mine who used to be one of my friends whom I taught how to play the guitar back then, came to our house, and said, he heard about a band called "LINKIN PARK". He said some punk played a CD while they were hangin at their place and, he thinks that the tracks are hot.... And I'm like,,, oh yeah? Ok cool! (Big deal),,,,,,,,,,Guess I'm lazy enough to buy a CD and waste half hour trying to figure out what's good about their music.

Weeks later,, my second elder brother went home from manila, and luckily, he's not giving me an ERASERHEAD'S CD this time. He played something in the casette CD player and,,,,,,,,,,,,damn,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I didn't know what to say.................... It sounds big, I love it. I listened to it all day, almost everyday from the first time I've had it. Can you imagine? a 13 old boy listening to stuffs like that. Some, rapping, screaming, crazy guitar sounds, hip-hop beats, special effects. Somehow I feel the energy, and it hits my ears harder everytime I listen to it. It made me want to know more about the band. So, I started collecting some magazines and song books where they are the featured artist of the month. I also collected CD's even the pirated one's just to hear their new, unreleased, remixed songs, as well as live recorded performances. I was lucky enough that one day, it was our town fiesta, I saw a huge sale of pirated CD's near the Circus. I found one of their released Video Cd's "Frat Party at the Pancake Festival". Damn!!!! all their music videos in the album "Hybrid Theory" are in it, including never before seen footages, backstage dramas, tours, recordings, the story behind the band, how they changed their name from hybrid theory to LP, how they found their God vocalist, a bit of how they achieved their own sound, and maybe everything a fan wanted to know about them.
I also discovered that before LP, many Hip-hop metal groups was already in the scene. Bands like Rage Against the Machine, Korn, Slipknot, Papa Roach, Kid Rock and Limp Bizkit. Well, I used to compare LP to LB before, but even though I'm a big fan of LB's guitarist Wes Borland, I still prefer listening to LP's music because I never heard them cursed in their songs. You'll never find this logo anywhere in the album.
I also compared LP to the band P.O.D. Their soulful guitar sounds makes this band sounds fresh and heavy, maybe almost as good as LP, but the thing is, LP's songs has tons of depths, that's why their songs are classic. Even if you heard them hundreds of times. You won't get tired even if you listen to them over and over again. I only hear few good tracks in P.O.D's album, compared to Linkin Park from first to last track, the same energy,,, the same mood,,, all good. I can last a day without listening to P.O.D, but I can't without LP. That's the bottomline.

After the success of HYBRID THEORY. LP released a Remix album called Reanimation. All the songs from the first album was remixed by different DJ's and some of the lyrics were changed, specially the most famous, In the end. It sounds cool too, well not as great as the original album, it's just like more,,, uhm what should I call it? robotic??? because the soldier in the album art of hybrid theory turned to be a gundam character, and much of special effects obviously has been used. Not bad for me

At first, I thought maybe I should move on from Hybrid Theory to find out what Meteora has, to gravitate itself towards the success of the first album. Well the beats and the guitar riffs are still heavy, the sampled sounds are new, somewhat the musical quality evolved. But,I thought some of the tracks should not be included though.
One day when my mom, my eldest brother, and I went to the mall in Intramuros, my brother asked me to hold his bag where he kept some of his money. I started roaming around until I found a record store (odyssey). I was so surprised when I saw the special edition CD of the album; Meteora. I didn't think twice, and bought the CD for 500 pesos from my brother's bag. It was a funny experience really. I was ashamed as I returned the bag with lesser amount of money. But I'm happy obviously. The CD I bought has a bonus Video CD; "The Making of Meteora". The booklet inside showed the "Art of Meteora" never wonder why the album cover is a guy wearing a paintmask holding a spraypaint. In the 30 minute movie, Linkin Park said that the goal in the new album was to show people the art of making music, the blood, sweat, and tears that goes into the process, that kind of a labor of love that you get from point A to point B, that most people don't get to see. The art of meteora (booklet frontpage)which was painted by the band and a famous artist named Delta, is a representation of the album itself. On the art day, they were just painting something on a wooden wall, and painting over it, and painting over it again. This shows how they work on their songs. Painting over a finished painting is like, making a song, and ripping it down, building it back up, and ripping it down again if that's what it takes to achieve the best sound. You can also see lots of words included in the art. It was like a documentation of what was going on that day, in the life of the album. The literal meaning behind Meteora, is a rock formation in Greece and has a monistery seeing on top of it. Mike shinoda said that the name Meteora sounded huge for him, so they've chosen it to be the name of the album. He thinks that in some weird way, Linkin Park doesn't mean the park, but the band. And Meteora does not mean the rock formation, it's what this album sounds like. Makes sense.
The Art of Meteora
After another success on Meteora and the new single Somewhere I belong hitting the charts, the band released a DVD, "Linkin Park Live in Texas". This concert is one of the best concerts ever. So much energy, and very cool set up. Their paintings and other artworks was placed in the background on stage which added more flavor to the mood of the show.In the middle of the concert, you can see some highlights of the crew working on the stage and preparing everything including the instruments and the sound system. I remembered some of their crew's faces, and I never thought that one day, I will have the chance of meeting them in person
One day my mom told me that LP's gonna be having a concert here in the Philippines too. He saw it on a commercial. I was so shocked when I heard it, Who in this freaking rock & roll world would refuse to see LP in person? I can't sleep for one week after that night, . I really wanna go. I begged Mom,,,So she called my brother's wife in Manila that time to get me a ticket. Luckily, for 2600 pesos she got me the gold front ticket. I was so happy. Finally, THE LINKIN PARK EXPERIENCE.
The day came, I'm excited enough to be there as early as 8 in the morning. The concert is 8pm,LOLZ. Being so early, I saw how they transformed the simple CCP open ground to a mind blowing concert ground. I even pretended to be a crew member and carried some of their instruments to the stage. Lucky me, I talked to some of Linkin Park's Crew whom I saw in the live dvd, I asked them some questions and they're really nice in answering me. I even met some Hardcore fans like, Kuya June, a nurse from Zamboanga, & Rapnel and Ate Chinny from Manila, and they were so cool. That day I wore my I love new york T-shirt, and brought all my LP CD's.
Then the big night came. Are they real???, LP is right in front of me, Oh God!! I can't stop banging my head. They were awesome live, they all look good too. I shouted when I heard Mike said "itaas ang kamay" tagalog for put your hands up. The difference between live in manila to live in texas are the intros, they replaced all the intros of their song with a cooler sound which made it more exciting. They're nice too. After the performance, Chester said that Philippines has one of the best crowds in the world.I must say that no one is better than LP, and I mean no one, no other band comes close. They are the WORLD'S BEST BAND.
When they left the stage, It's time for me to go home, but I thought I saw someone I know. I saw Jamir Garcia, vocalist for Slapshock, A Pinoy Rap Metal band. I can't remember what I told him, all I remember is he shook my hand and said thank you. I'm all wasted that moment. I'm looking for something to drink that I can buy. I found snow cones and bought one. I was eating while waiting for my brother to fetch me. What a great experience. I love LP 4ever!!!!
